Marea și plajele din Creta

Creta este o destinație populară pentru iubitorii de plajă, deoarece insula are peste 160 km de plaje. Insula este scăldată de valurile Mării Mediterane, sau mai degrabă de apele celor trei mări care fac parte din bazinul mediteranean - Marea Egee (sau Marea Creta ca parte a Mării Egee) în nord, Marea Libiei în sud și Marea Ionică în vest. Unii mai disting Marea Ciprului în partea de est. În toate mările, apa este foarte limpede.

Mai mult de 100 de plaje din Creta au primit Steagul Albastru pentru curățenie și factori de mediu.
